I recently stumbled on a gallery in Johnson City that had these incredible portraits of locals. There was this one of an old musician with faded tattoos on his arms, and another of a waitress laughing behind a counter. You could tell the artist spent time just talking to people before ever picking up a brush. The collection felt like a love letter to the town.
